CopCam - GPS Evidence Camera

CopCam is a specialized camera app for professional incident and operational documentation. It is designed for police officers, firefighter and other professionals, as well as private users who want to capture photos and videos specifically for documentation, or even for evidentiary purpose. CopCam combines familiar camera controls with features that assure authenticity of your recordings.

Recordings are secured cryptographically to make any later tampering detectable. In addition, information such as date, time, GPS position, heading, and a map view can be burned directly into the footage (optional). Formats and coordinate systems (WGS84/ETRS89, OSGB36 and LV95) can be adjusted to meet your requirements.

Privacy is implemented consistently, CopCam works fully offline. Media is stored separately from the iOS Photos library and can be shared quickly or transferred to other computer on your local network. This creates a robust foundation for reliable documentation, on duty and in everyday life.

CAPTURING:

- Burn-ins of important live information (deactivateble)

DETECTION:

- Universal Code-Detection: read all sorts of machine readable codes (EAN, QR, Aztec, PDF417, UPC-E, Codabar, GS1, Interleaved, ITF and many more)

- VIN (vehicle identification number) detection: scan and copy VIN numbers

MEDIA LIBRARY:

- Stores media separately from iOS Photos library (export possible)

- Prevent access to media library using Face ID or Touch ID

- Organize media files in folders

FILE SHARING:

- Direct file transfer: Wi-Fi, Personal Hotspot, WebDAV and USB

- Share media using all common iOS methods (AirDrop, iCloud, Save to Photos, Messages, etc.)

- Prevents incorrect image rotation caused by faulty systems

- Captures JPG for maximum compatibility

SECURITY:

- Live burn-ins: date & time, date/time integrity status, GPS coordinates, compass heading, GPS speed (km/h or mph), street map

- Date/time integrity to prevent false device date/time information

- File signature: SHA256 hash with P256 ECDSA to make tampering difficult
