MongoDB Client is the fastest way to connect to, browse, and query your MongoDB databases — natively on Mac, iPad, and iPhone. No Electron. No web views. Just a clean SwiftUI app that starts in under a second.
Paste your connection string. Done.
KEY FEATURES
- Connect via connection string — supports mongodb:// and mongodb+srv:// (Atlas, self-hosted, local)
- Save multiple named connections — switch databases in one tap
- Browse all databases and collections in a clean sidebar hierarchy
- View, filter, and sort documents — query with real MongoDB filter syntax
- Full BSON type support — ObjectId, Date, Binary, Int32, Int64, Decimal128, Timestamp, and more
- BSON-aware field editor — edit any field with the correct type, not a plain text box
- Insert new documents — build structured documents with proper BSON types
- Native SwiftUI — runs on iPhone, iPad, and Mac with a single universal build
WHY MONGODB CLIENT
Most MongoDB GUI tools are Electron apps ported from desktop — heavy, slow, and awkward on Apple hardware. MongoDB Client is built from the ground up in SwiftUI. It respects your platform: keyboard shortcuts on Mac, slide-over on iPad, portrait browsing on iPhone. Performance is native; memory use is minimal.
BSON DONE RIGHT
MongoDB stores data in BSON — Binary JSON — with richer types than plain JSON can express. Editors that ignore this silently corrupt your data when you save a Date as a String or an ObjectId as plain text. Every field in MongoDB Client shows its BSON type and enforces it at edit time.
PERFECT FOR
- Backend engineers connecting to an Atlas cluster during development
- Full-stack developers inspecting collections without leaving their Apple device
- DBAs browsing replica sets from iPad while away from their desk
- Anyone who wants a real MongoDB client on their iPhone — not a web app wrapper
CONNECTIONS & ONBOARDING
Paste any standard MongoDB connection string — Atlas cluster URIs, self-hosted mongod instances, or local connections. Saved connections are stored securely and available instantly on next launch. No account required. No cloud sign-up.
