Understanding Maths - Addition and Subtraction is the second app in a series of educational apps based on J. Bruner's Learning Theory “Three Modes of Representation”. Understand and practise addition and subtraction in 4 games and show your skills in the Duel! Compete against your peers or even parents by setting different levels of difficulty.

Addition - Tap with your fingers

Solve the problem by touching the display.

Example: 3 + 5

Tap with 3 fingers, then with 5.

After solving the equation, you can pop the objects by touching them.

Please turn the "Multitasking Gestures" on your iPad to OFF in "General Settings", as these will close the app!

Addition

Drag down the correct amount of tens and ones.

Example 37+8=

Drag down 3 tens and 7 ones of one colour and 8 ones of the other colour.

See and understand place value: ten "ones" make one "ten".

Subtraction

Drag down the correct amount of tens and ones.

See and understand that ten is a bundle of ten ones

See and understand the place value when taking one away from 10

Training

Solve the problem by writing the solution onto the screen.

Help is provided by the iconic representation of the numbers.

Two players compete against each other.

Each player can choose his level of difficulty.
