HOW WE MEASURE

First, Netpital measures your idle latency — how fast your connection responds when nothing else is happening. Then it saturates the line with real downloads and uploads and measures latency again, under load. The difference between those two numbers is bufferbloat: the hidden lag that freezes your call the moment someone else starts streaming. Every result you see was actually measured this way — anything we can only estimate is labelled as an estimate.
