xntfs

xntfs is a simple NTFS utility for macOS. It uses Apple's FSKit file-system extension model and the proven ntfs-3g engine to work with NTFS drives, without a kernel extension and without macFUSE.

Once the file-system extension is installed and enabled, macOS can automatically mount supported NTFS devices under /Volumes. The app itself stays lightweight: it shows your NTFS drives and disk images, lets you mount or eject volumes, and gives clear status information when something needs attention.

What xntfs focuses on:

- FSKit-based NTFS support, not a macFUSE layer

- ntfs-3g as the underlying NTFS read/write engine

- Automatic mounting for NTFS devices through macOS Disk Arbitration

- A small, practical interface for drives, disk images, mount status, and read-only choices

- macOS 27 SDK integration where available, including newer FSKit APIs

- Fallback guidance for earlier macOS versions where some actions must be completed by the user

- Diagnostics for extension installation, enablement, duplicate registrations, and common setup issues

- Copyable Terminal commands when the sandbox prevents the app from safely doing something directly

- Open-source development, with source code available on GitHub

xntfs is intentionally modest. It is not a file manager, backup tool, disk repair suite, or commercial NTFS platform. It is a focused bridge between macOS FSKit and ntfs-3g, designed to make NTFS volumes easier to use while keeping the behavior visible and understandable.
