Multiplex — SSH tmux Terminal

Multiplex is a terminal for people who live inside persistent remote sessions — built native for iPhone and iPad.

THE WALL

Hosts probe concurrently. Every session is a live monitor: its actual last screen lines, one spine segment per window, red LIVE while attached. See the whole fleet before attaching; NO SIGNAL reconnects in one tap. Run tmux, or switch a host to herdr — one tile per session, its workspaces on the spine, agent state read from herdr itself.

A SESSION WHERE YOU NEED IT

On iPad, attach opens each session in a real scene for Stage Manager, Split View, and external displays. Merge windows into tabs and split them back out — the SSH connection, buffer, and scrollback move with the tab, so shells never drop. On iPhone, the wall and terminal share one adaptive full-screen shell.

BUILT FOR AI AGENT SESSIONS

Start Claude Code, Codex, or Pi with an optional setup script, model, and first prompt in one step. Multiplex spots all three across every pane, and helper chips follow the foreground agent so commands reach the process receiving your keystrokes — rearrange them, add your own, and every host remembers its setup on all your devices. Pro removes the daily chip limit, alerts you when an unwatched turn finishes or needs input (Claude Code and Codex on tmux, all three on herdr), and opens Claude Code prompt history with one-tap transcript jumps. Attach or drop files on tmux and herdr tabs: Multiplex uploads into the pane's working directory and types the remote path.

Put a host on your Home Screen — last-known session frames with an honest SEEN stamp, plus SHELL and AGENT keys straight into a connection — or a fleet widget showing every host at a glance. Shortcuts and Siri open a shell or launch an agent in a chosen directory, as a fresh session or inside one you already have, and a multiplex:// URL scheme drives your own automations.

With Pro, switch a host to mosh and the session survives sleep, roaming, and IP changes — a native Swift mosh client, no companion app.

A REAL TERMINAL

Full xterm-256color emulation, multilingual system-keyboard input, touch and pointer clicks for mouse-aware TUIs, hardware keyboards, live PTY resize, and a built-in menu of everyday tmux commands — with herdr's own set on herdr tabs. Long-press, double-tap, or secondary-click for pane-clamped text selection on either backend. System, Light, and Dark switch the whole chassis, each keeping its own terminal theme — ten built in, and Pro adds an editor for background, text, cursor, and all 16 ANSI colors.

WHAT YOU NEED

A remote host you can reach over SSH (password or OpenSSH ed25519/RSA key). The live wall and persistent sessions need tmux 1.8+ or herdr 0.7.5+; plain SSH shells work without either. mosh needs mosh-server on the host.
