Latent Photos is a fast, private companion to Apple Photos. It does the two things your photo library is missing: cleaning up near-duplicate shots, and giving you full control of your categories through tags that are truly yours. You stay the judge: compare any two shots with one slider and keep the better one, no swiping blind, no algorithm picking for you. Tagging takes a flick, and every tag becomes a real album in Apple Photos, yours even without the app. And in between, Latent Photos is simply a calm, fast, minimal place to browse.

CLEAN UP SIMILAR SHOTS

Open any photo and tap Similar. Near-duplicates line up in the filmstrip, sorted by closeness: burst leftovers, retakes, almost-twins. Compare any two with a single slider and delete the weaker one with confidence. Deleted photos go to Apple's Recently Deleted, so nothing is ever lost by accident.

TAGS THAT ARE YOURS

Tag photos in place. Your labels are explicit, editable and exportable, never a black-box search you can't correct. By default every tag becomes a real album in Apple Photos, synced through iCloud: your categories survive reinstalls, show up on all your devices, and remain yours even without the app. Prefer to keep tags private to the app? One switch.

REVIEW AT YOUR OWN PACE

Photos you've looked at get a subtle tick. Filter to Unreviewed to pick up exactly where you left off, and turn an overwhelming library into a five-minutes-a-day habit.

SLICE YOUR LIBRARY ANY WAY

Combine tag, review-state and media-type filters. Sort newest, oldest or random. Group by day, month or year. Videos and Live Photos play right in the viewer.
