Qimu - Eye Break Reminder

Qimu is a quiet eye-care reminder for your Mac. Every 20 minutes it asks you to look away for 20 seconds — the 20-20-20 rule — and then gets out of your way.

WHAT IT DOES

• Short breaks and long breaks. A short break rests your eyes for 20 seconds. A long break walks you through five guided steps: close your eyes and breathe, roll your eyes slowly both ways, alternate near and far focus, then stand up and stretch.

• A heads-up banner 30 seconds before each break, so one never lands mid-sentence.

• Lives in the menu bar: countdown ring, next break, today's tally — one click away.

• Start at login, so it is simply there.

IT KNOWS WHEN TO STAY QUIET

• Fullscreen video, a presentation or a game — the break is held.

• Microphone in use, so a call or meeting is never interrupted.

• Away from the keyboard — the timer pauses, so time spent in another room is not counted as screen time.

Qimu never records audio and never reads window titles. It asks the system a couple of yes-or-no questions and nothing more, which is also why it never needs Screen Recording permission.

PRIVACY

No account. No telemetry. No analytics. No ads. Your records and settings stay in Qimu's sandbox container on this Mac, and you can delete that container at any time. The only network connection Qimu ever makes is to the App Store, to check or restore a purchase.

FIVE LANGUAGES, TWO THEMES

Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, English, Japanese and Korean. Light and dark, or follow the system.

FREE AND PRO

Qimu is fully usable for free: every reminder, every do-not-disturb rule, both themes, all five languages. The free version keeps the classic 20-20-20 numbers.

Qimu Pro unlocks: custom break frequency and duration, custom snooze, the weekly chart and history, and settings export / import.

Pro is available as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time purchase that never renews. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; manage or cancel them in System Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions.
