The research behind the technology is based on the penetration of different wavelengths into the human skin. different color wavelengths have different penetration depths and by subtracting visible wavelengths from others the image displayed can enhance the visibility of deeper visible light areas. The technology is similar to that of a saturation monitor which uses visible light to detect and measure pulse.

*The Iphone/Ipad device has no functionality in the vein detection. Any visible light camera can perform the algorithm and generate a similar image. The iphone/Ipad camera sensors have no role in the vein detection process*
