POTS Check is a free home wellness screening tool that helps you explore whether you may have Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), or other forms of orthostatic intolerance that cause symptoms like dizziness, rapid heartbeat, and fatigue when standing.
POTS Check helps you document your cardiovascular response and arrive at your provider appointment with organized, clinically-legible data.
**HOW IT WORKS**
Using your Apple Watch and iPhone, POTS Check guides you through the NASA Lean Test, a clinically-recognized screening protocol that monitors your heart rate response when transitioning from lying down to standing.
Your Apple Watch continuously monitors your heart rate throughout the test. If you have a blood pressure cuff, you'll enter readings at key intervals — BP data adds critical context, including Proportional Pulse Pressure (PPP), which can reveal vascular patterns that heart rate alone cannot detect.
After the test, you receive a clinical-format report with graphs and a per-minute data table you can bring to your healthcare provider for interpretation.
**KEY FEATURES**
• Guided NASA Lean Test Protocol Step-by-step guidance through a standardized baseline and standing assessment with real-time Apple Watch coaching and posture validation.
• Clinical-Format PDF Reports Provider-ready reports with a per-minute HR, SBP, DBP, and Proportional Pulse Pressure table — aligned with the format used in specialist clinic presentations.
• Blood Pressure Integration Enter BP readings at key intervals. Includes Proportional Pulse Pressure (PPP) — a vascular metric that complements heart rate data. BP flags (Orthostatic Hypotension, Orthostatic Hypertension) apply established AHA definitions.
• Configurable Baseline Duration Choose a 5-, 10-, or 15-minute supine baseline. Default is 10 minutes — the Bateman Horne Center's recommended clinical minimum.
• Test Notes Add free-text notes to any session — current symptoms, recent medications, activity level — for richer context in your provider report.
• Age-Based Reference Ranges Appropriate screening thresholds based on your age (pediatric 13–19: ≥40 bpm; adult 20+: ≥30 bpm), presented as reference ranges for provider interpretation.
• Symptom Logging to document symptoms during the standing phase with timestamps.
• Health Profile Import baseline vitals from Apple Health for additional context.
• Two Account Options — Guest Mode: Anonymous, single-test option with instant results — Secure Account: Encrypted local storage for unlimited test history, trend charts, Health Profile, and PDF export
• Privacy-First Design All data stays on your device with AES-256-GCM encryption at rest. No cloud upload required.
• You Own Your Data and can export it or permanently delete it at any time.
**IMPORTANT NOTES**
POTS Check is a wellness screening tool, NOT a medical device or diagnostic tool. Results are for informational purposes and discussion with your healthcare provider. This app does not diagnose POTS or any medical condition.
Blood pressure monitoring requires a separate manual BP cuff. Apple Watch does not measure blood pressure.
Requires Apple Watch (watchOS 11.0+) and iPhone (iOS 18.0+).
