Explore the spectacular geology and landscape of South Australia through the interpretation provided in this App for your phone or tablet.

There are maps, GPS trails and interpretation notes for self-guided Geological Trails - both motoring and walking - as well as information about sites of geological significance.

The aim is to provide easy -to-understand information on South Australian geology to all those interested in the earth sciences.

After opening this app for the first time, you will enter the "Update Content" panel and be prompted to download an additional (around) 77MB of content which includes text, photos, maps and GPS trails. This content can only be downloaded when there is a suitable internet connection available.

Most of the sites described in the app are in remote locations and do NOT have a good terrestrial internet connection, so download before you go.

Once downloaded, you can peruse this content either before you embark on your expedition or in the field.

If the route you are exploring has a GPS trail on the App you can follow your progress by enabling the blue dot. This feature puts a blue dot on the GPS map, indicating your present position. The feature is enabled by tapping the GPS icon at the top of the app and selecting “Track”.

In addition, you can also enable the “Alert” facility, so that you are given an audio alert when approaching a Point of Interest.

The alerts work even in background mode, i.e. when your phone screen is off and the phone is in your pocket.
