On the iPhone 12 Pro and the 3rd and 4th generation iPad Pros with LIDAR, you can use the back facing LiDAR scanner to see in the dark. The app does not require any light to operate and can work in complete darkness.
SEE WITH INFRARED TRUE DEPTH
For compatible devices (devices with FaceID), the front-facing true depth camera is used to see in the dark.
For both the LIDAR sensor and the true depth camera, the app uses creates a pseudo color image using the depth data from the sensors.
