HOW MOCHI WORKS
Mochi has two sides — Learn and Practice. Start from zero with the course, jump straight into Practice, or move between them whenever you like.
LEARN — the guided course
- Unlocks new keys a few at a time, in a deliberate, frequency-based order — never random.
- Early lessons drill the commonest letter combinations; as more letters unlock, they grow into whole words, most frequent first.
- Then layers in capitals, punctuation, symbols, and numbers, until you've covered the whole keyboard, not just the easy half.
- Keeps repeating what you've just learned until it's automatic, and ends in one Final Test with Pass, Honors, and Perfect tiers.
PRACTICE — real words, right away
- Type from each language's most popular word lists — the 200 most common words up to 50,000.
- Or switch to movie quotes, book quotes, or a misspelled-words drill.
- Smart Drill spots the keys you miss most and mixes extra practice for them into your words.
- Go by the clock or by word count — your choice.

WHO MOCHI IS FOR
For anyone who wants to type faster and more accurately: complete beginners learning touch-typing from zero, coders sharpening muscle memory, and anyone moving to a new layout.
It's a great first trainer for kids, too — every word set is age-appropriate (rated 4+), with no profanity or adult content.
And it's friendly for older typists, or anyone who finds most apps too small: the typing text scales large, the on-screen keyboard is big and clearly outlined, and themes are tuned for legible contrast.

WHAT YOU GET
- Your real keyboard layout, built in
48 layouts ship with the app — QWERTY, AZERTY, QWERTZ, Dvorak, Colemak, Cyrillic, plus regional and programmer variants — and the on-screen keyboard matches what you type on.
- An on-screen keyboard that guides you
A large, scalable keyboard sits under your text, always showing the next key and finger to use — so your eyes stay on the screen, not your hands.
- Your language, or your second one
Practice in any of 21 languages — build speed in your native tongue, or learn a second one like Spanish or English.
- Practice on your own texts
Paste any passage, or drop in a .txt, .md, .rtf, or .epub — an article, a book, your notes — and type it. Mochi cleans it up for typing, remembers your place, and lets you go for as long as you like.
- Deep, honest statistics
Per-key analytics show which letters cost you speed and accuracy — a complete per-keystroke record, never an estimate. Heatmaps, a calendar, streaks, and trend charts make your daily habit visible.
- Type at a size that's comfortable
Five monospace typing fonts like Fira Code and OpenDyslexic, scalable to any size.
- Mechanical keyboard feel, on demand
22 sound packs of authentic switch recordings, separate press and release per key — for rhythm and muscle memory, or off for silence.
- Sixteen themes, tuned for legibility
16 hand-tuned color themes, including community favorites — and you can switch theme, layout, sound, or font anytime without losing your history.
- Practice as a family
Share one Mac without sharing one set of stats — separate profiles keep each person's progress, personal bests, theme, sound, and color their own.
- Your data stays yours
No ads, no third-party tracking, no account. Your history lives on your Mac and can sync privately across your Macs with iCloud.
