The Ling Six Sound Test is used to check if the listener can hear speech sounds across the pitch range of normal speech. To understand spoken conversation successfully, you need to be able to reliably hear low to high pitch speech sounds.
The RIDBC Ling Sound Test app has been created to allow you to quickly check that hearing devices (hearing aids, cochlear implants or bone conductors) are delivering speech sounds to the listener as they should from day to day. The app replaces the need to record and store test results on paper, providing useful information about the reliability of speech perception over time.
The app allows a user to play each of the 6 sounds (ah, ee, mm, oo, sh, ss) during the test and record the results for one or multiple users. Ling sounds are pre-recorded in a male and a female voice, or you can record your own. These pre-recorded sounds also allow the user to self-check their devices by playing sounds in random order.
