What is the 20-20-20 Rule?

The 20-20-20 Rule states that when staring at a screen for long periods, it is beneficial to look away from your screen every 20 minutes at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds.

What is RestEyes?

Our app, inspired by the 20-20-20 rule, reminds you to give your eyes regular breaks in a way that doesn't disrupt your workflow. Unlike other apps that block your entire screen, RestEyes uses sound, a popover, and dims your screen to nudge you to look away for a couple of seconds. This allows you to decide if it's a good idea to give your strained eyes some rest or if you're so focused that you can't take a break.
